NAiLd'It: Geyser Dew

Hi everyone!  Today I have another nAiLd'It polish for you, Geyser Dew!  Let's take a look, shall we?

I started out layering Geyser Dew over a mystery shimmery blue from Sinful Colors (I bought it on sale and the label is missing!).  It turned out to be a really pretty and glowy mani, but my camera absolutely hated it, so I apologize that you can't see everything in these first photos.  In person, the effect is definitely eye-catching because you could see more of a contrast.

These photos show two coats over blue.  It applied pretty well, but I didn't really get much of the larger glitter out of the bottle.  Next time I'm going to let it sit upside down for a few minutes before I paint.  It was a bit of a hungry glitter and after a coat of Gelous and a coat of SV it still had a little texture to it.

I decided to layer it over pink for a second set of pictures so you could better see this polish.  It's a mix of matte glitters and satin-matte glitters.  I liked it over the blue, but I think it's fabulous over bright pink, even better than the blue!  I only used one layer over pink because I loved the contrast of the glitters with the base.  This time, one coat of Gelous and one coat of top coat smoothed it out perfectly.

Naild'It Nail Polish: Summer Lovin Melon

Hi guys!  It's been a while!  My husband and I are settled again in California finally!  My monitor got a little damaged during the trip so I ordered a new one and took a little time to spend with my family, but now I'm back again.  Today, I have a review for you of a great indie polish, Summer Lovin Melon by nAiL'DiT Unique Polish.

This polish is pretty much the perfect visual incarnation of a watermelon.  It's really fun and fresh and definitely summery.  The larger hexes are the perfect shade of watermelon pink!  It also has lighter pink, green, white bar, black square and black heart glitter!  It's a mix of metallic and matte glitters, which really works nicely here to give it a nice depth.

These photos show one coat over Zoya Tracie, which I really dig as a base for this because of its brightness.  It helps the glitter stand out!  Application was very easy.  I didn't actually have to hunt for the hearts and they came out of the bottle easily, though I did flip them on the nail so they faced the direction I wanted for this mani.  I smoothed it out completely with a layer of Gelous and a layer of top coat.

Rainbow Honey: Mare Of The Moon

Hi everyone!  I know I mentioned getting to the Rainbow Honey mystery polishes from the Equestria collection today, so you're getting another post!  Let's take a look at Mare of the Moon!

Mare of the Moon is a gorgeous blurple shimmer accented with holographic glitter, the most interesting and unique shape being a crescent moon!  It is inspired by Princess Luna, after all!

This polish wanted to photograph very, very purple compared to how it looked on my nails.  I actually wore it to go see Moonrise Kingdom and was staring adoringly at it in the car for a long time.  I think my very blue experience was due to living in a place without sunlight because the purple came out fine under my lamp!

These pictures show two even coats with one coat of top coat, which was enough to smooth it to the touch!  The formula was once again great with no glitter fishing.  I did kind of feel that the moons from my first coat were getting covered up, so next time (when I wear this in a place with sun!) I will probably try not to place them until the second coat!

Pink Wednesday: Rainbow Honey Pinkie Promise

Hi guys!  It's been a while since I've done a pink Wednesday mani post on the blog, so it worked out perfectly that I still needed to show you my Pinkie Promise pictures!

This is my favorite polish from the Rainbow Honey Equestria collection, partially because it is inspired by my favorite pony ever, Pinkie Pie!

While I was snapping pictures, my hubby handed me the souvenir he picked up from a Vegas road trip with his dad a couple weeks ago.  I took a couple pictures with it to show you just what a girl I am.  I love pink!  And Hello Kitty... and My Little Pony and pretty things... My husband always tells me, "You're such a girl."  I don't mind.  I like what I like!

However, I am actually shy of pink nail polish unless it is a more bold, bright or neon color.  And even then, I have trouble liking a lot of shades on me.  I think it's my color weakness, I don't love just any pink on my nails!

Pinkie Promise, however, is a definite winner though.  For these photos, I used three thin coats with no underwear.  There is a tad of visible nail line in the photos, but it didn't show up in real life.  It had great coverage and the formula was even and easy to work with.  I really enjoyed it this way, but I am dying to wear it over a bright and fun pink some time!  Or a gradient from the cuticle! (But I PROMISED that I wouldn't do that with the rest of these pony polishes, lol!)

I just love how sparkly and fun this is.  It's a party in a bottle!  The golden shimmer really kicks it up a lot.

Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection: A Little Kindness

Hi everyone!  I've been completely swamped with things since Saturday, but I'm determined to finish showing you this Rainbow Honey collection this week!  On Friday I've got a wedding rehearsal and Saturday is the wedding itself of two good friends of mine.  I'll be showing you my manicures for both days soon!  In the meantime, let's take a peak at A Little Kindness.

For this mani, I decided to layer A Little Kindness over Zoya Skylar.  This polish is inspired by Fluttershy, who happens to be my husband's favorite pony ever.  I mean, he's totally wrong, Pinkie Pie is cooler, but Fluttershy is adorable too.  In any case, this polish is also my second favorite in the collection, right after Pinkie Promise, which I am so wearing tonight when I get home!

These photos show one coat of A Little Kindness.  In other swatches, I've seen several coats look pretty opaque on its own, but I really wanted to see the pink shimmer in the base contrast with something underneath it.  I think Skylar ended up being a little pale though because while the gold and pink hexes stand out, the very soft white ones don't.  You can kind of see them here and there though.

All in all, this is some seriously beautiful glitter.  It's got a real depth to it that I love with the assortment of shades in it.  The formula is awesome to work with yet again, easy to get a good helping of glitter on each nail!

Illamasqua Jo'mina and Rainbow Honey The Element of Magic

Hi there everyone!  It's been a busy couple of days here spent packing Lacquer Convention orders, but as of this evening everything has been filled.  The last packages are heading to the post office in the morning!  I managed to find about twenty minutes to paint my nails and snap some pictures, so I decided to toss this fun combo on!

Firstly, let's marvel at Jo'mina.  This is a vibrant light purple creme by Illamasqua that I didn't know if I would love because of my fear of lighter purples that head into lavender and lilac territory... But Jo'mina is just so bright and fabulous.

I'm really kicking myself for not trying Illamasqua's polishes before this.  After Baptiste, I was completely blown away, and Jo'mina is just amazing as well.  These photos show two coats with no top coat.  The formula is smooth and dreamy, though I did have to make sure I wiped off the stem of the brush or I had a little problem with running.  It isn't anything super terrible though.  Totally worth it!

Yeah, I'm obsessed with this polish now... Soooo baaaad!  I never thought I would be so happy there isn't a Sephora nearby to go shop at!

Here's a little The Element of Magic tossed on top.  You guys are probably thinking, "Gosh, not another glitter along the cuticle look!"  I know, I know, but it's pretty much my go-to look when I am in a hurry and need something fun.  It does the job!  And I promise it's the last one for a while!  I will be more inventive with the rest of the Equestria collection!

The Element of Magic, inspired by Twilight Sparkle herself, is a gorgeous glitter polish.  The shimmer is utterly fantastic this time.  That's my favorite thing about this collection, how the bases have such a beautiful shimmer in them.  This polish is just like the others, dense and easy to apply.  No fishing for glitter, no special placement, just swipe, swipe, aaaand you have knockout pony nails.  Seriously, I love ponies.  Especially like this!

And now I've gotta go to bed!  Too tired to chat more.  I've got time in the morning to do some nail art, so I'm going to put together a special post before I disappear for the rest of the weekend!

Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection: 20% Cooler

Hi everyone!  I'm going to try to power through a few posts today because I have a lot planned and I want to just show you everything.  Let's get a move on it!  It's almost lunch time and I'm hungry!

Continuing on with swatches from the Equestria Collection, today I have 20% Cooler to show you, a really striking rainbow glitter polish with a beautiful blue shimmer!

When I ordered the collection, I did debate whether or not I should order everything.  Low-buy and all, I was thinking about being practical... (This is where you laugh at me for being practical!)  But I wasn't.  I ordered everything.  And I am very glad I did because hello, mystery polishes, aren't you gorgeous today?  But in any case, I wasn't going to order 20% Cooler if I was going to skip on anything (Hoof Wrassle was the other one I also considered skipping but I am so so glad I didn't!).  It's a rainbow hex glitter, which is a fairly common type of polish, but it's a rainbow hex glitter that is right up my alley.

What do I love about it?  Density and vibrancy!  This polish is packed with glitter, which I appreciate because I like to do thin coats but not feel like I hardly got any glitter on my nail.  Alternately, I could probably build this baby up quickly if I wanted a very dense look on my nail.  These photos show one coat over two different blues, because I wanted to be all Rainbow Dash-y.  I was taking the photos with this light blue when I literally smudged every nail on the side of my light box!  I had to repaint and try again!  The light blue is Julep's Jessica, a creme with no shimmer itself, which made it easy to see the shimmer that's in 20% Cooler!

And just look how bright this assortment is!  I just adore that.  Brilliant rainbow glitter is always exciting.  I'm drawn to bold colors!

Here's the second set of pictures, one coat of 20% Cooler over Zoya Jo.  It's such a fun polish, I really dig it!  It's probably going to replace my other rainbow glitter that I always grab, Rainbow Connection, in my special travel case, ha ha.

Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection: The Worst Possible Thing

Hey there everyone!  I had so much I wanted to get through today and most of it got interrupted!  I have been trying to shoot pictures for this post for hours.  I would get a phone call!  Or a text!  And my camera flat out refused to focus properly on the glitter.  I finally got some shots that I have deemed acceptable, so let's get to it before I get another call!

Today's My Little Pony polish is The Worst Possible Thing, inspired by Rarity herself.  She is my second favorite pony, probably because she likes pretty, shiny things and well, my biggest obsession is with pretty, shiny polish!  This polish?  Fits the bill EXACTLY.

Let's take a quick peek at what I layered it over, Illamasqua's Baptiste.  I took way too long to acquire this polish.  I must have looked at pictures of this a thousand times, but I always hesitated.  I always told myself, next month, next time!  It helped that I don't live near a Sephora and the nearest ones didn't actually carry Illamasqua polish.  I was able to delude myself into thinking I was okay without it... but I was wrong.  I needed Baptiste. It's so striking and gorgeous!  I could stare at it all day.  Not kidding!  I love this photo because I could capture the red in it.  Light reflects so beautifully off of it.  It's love.  No question!

Baptiste came in the mail today, a day earlier than UPS said they were bringing it to me, and I knew when I first laid eyes on it that it would look fabulous with The Worst Possible Thing.  This gorgeous, iridescent polish is a mix of glitter and flakies that constantly shift and sparkle in the light.  It looks like jewelry, but to me, better than jewelry!

I couldn't stand covering up Baptiste completely, so I opted for a bit of a gradient at the cuticle with an accent nail.  On my ring finger, that's one coat of The Worst Possible Thing.  It's very nicely dense and easy to work with, like Hoof Wrassle was.

I mentioned it in a comment, but every time I put on a polish from this collection, it gets further cemented: this is my favorite full collection ever.  And you know, even if I am biased because I love My Little Pony, they are fabulous polishes.  I think what works so well with this collection is that they really are varied in color but call back to each other.  It's such a sweet quality that is all found in the ponies they're inspired by!  Aside from being shiny and pretty, they have an amazing variety with cohesion!

Have you had enough gushing?  Because this is only my second post on this collection and I can promise it's going to continue!

Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection: Hoof Wrassle

Hey everyone!  It's been a while since I've had a blog post for you guys!  Life has been quite busy here, but I miss blogging everyday, so I'm promising myself that I'm going to keep up better with the blog again!  Today, I got an AWESOME package in the mail, filled with absolutely gorgeous polishes.  Let's take a look at these, shall we?

First of all, ADORABLE packaging.  I love polishes that come in boxes like these!  I have been anxiously waiting for this collection since I first saw the previews on Facebook.  I IMMEDIATELY pre-ordered it, even though I was (and now still am!) on a low-buy.  It's impossible for me to go on a complete no-buy lately, so I've cut out a lot of the casual, "Oh shiny!" buying that starts to add up when I randomly am out shopping for things besides polish!  In any case, I would have broken a complete no-buy for these babies.

And these are the two secret polishes that I got for pre-ordering the whole collection!  I'm not going to show them to you today, because Rainbow Honey is in the process of revealing them herself and I don't want to completely ruin her fun!  This is essentially me teasing you all, sorry!

Today, I will show you Hoof Wrassle though.  It was almost impossible to pick which color to try first.  I swatched them all first on my swatch sticks and instead of making the decision easier, it made it worse!  So I mixed them all around, closed my eyes and randomly picked one.  It worked out =)

As a side note, it was really hard to capture the color accurately of this polish.  My fingers look all sorts of weird colors here!  I didn't layer it this time because it looked like two coats would get me a completely opaque look, which it did, but it looks a lot less bright like this in real life.  It photographed very vibrant and bright, so I toned it down in PS in all but the last picture.  I think layering it over a bright orange or a yellow would get the brighter color.

These photos show two coats with one of top coat.  It's still a little textured, so I will slap another layer on later.  The formula on this one was great!  It applied smoothly and the glitter was really easy to work with, no fishing or re-positioning!

 One of the reasons I was so excited about this collection is that I'm a big My Little Pony fan.  I love Friendship is Magic--and so does my husband!  Yep, I'm married to a brony.  His BFFs are the ones who converted him though, so they are ALL bronies and have their favorite ponies.  One of them loves Applejack, so I sent him a picture and he lamented that there were no apples!  Picky, picky--though apple shaped glitter polish, can you imagine?  I added some apples for him anyway.

This is how bright the polish photographs and looks in the bottle.  I do like it better this way, so next time I'll definitely layer it to try to get a more brilliant look!

So now comes the hard question: Which one should I wear next??
